Good Sized Bohemian Pink and White Cased Bowl, made for the Venetian Market 1905

Unusual enamelled and gilded Victorian Harrach Potpurri holder with original white metal feet and collar with detachable pierced lid and separate two part inner filter made c1890. With an opaque cream base, it is enamelled with green gilded bands and floral decoration. The container inner lid allows the contents to be closed off, partly closed off or left fully open, ensuring the fragrance is released into the room when only when desired. Harrach has been the backbone of Bohemian, and possibly European, glass for the last 300 years. It proudly celebrates its tri-centenary in 2012. Before Ludwig Moser was allowed to have his own Glassworks he, like almost everyone else in the region, bought his blanks from Harrach. In fact we will probably never know how much glass, supposedly made my other great glass makers of Europe, were in fact made and finished in the Harrach Glassworks. We do know that vast ranges of Legras was made by Harrach, probably under licence and possibly the majority of the glass we think of as Fratelli Tosso...

Exceptional vibrant pink floral enamelled basket box and fitted cover with orate bent metal (bronze) fitments with fine detaileled leaf patterns by Moser c 1895. An amazing high quality piece decorated in polychrome enamel posies of flowers, a rare shape with elongated rounded lid and base mounted on bronze bent metal feet and side handles - Often boxes like this show stress on the metal hinges and catches -due to the weight of the glass - but this has been well protected for 130 years and is in amazing condition. Possibly this was originally meant as a sugar casket...

Fabulous Orivit signed metal and cut glass Tazza in exceptional condition. The base is a stunningly Art Nouveau sinuous gold coloured metal, with a flower head knop to hold on the glass top. It is signed Orivit 2259 on the base dating it to around 1900. The top is clear colourless glass with a wavy edge and cut with branches and leaves. Orivit A.G. Cologne-Ehrenfeld & Braunfels. Rhine Province or Rhenish Prussia, Prussia (now North Rhine-Westphalia) Silberschmied / Silversmiths The company was founded in 1894, as "Rheinische Broncegiesserei für Kleinplastiken " in Köln-Ehrenfeld by Wilhelm Ferdinand Hubert Schmitz (b.1863 - d.1939). From 1896 they started making luxury items in a new alloy,"Orivit Metal", consisting of 89.85% pewter 7.9 % antimony 1.9 % copper and 0.12 % silver. In 1900 the factory changed its name to "Orivit A.G. fur Kunsthandwerkliche Metalwarenfabrikation" and in 1901/02 a new factory was built in Cöln- Braunfels, complete with a revolutionary new Huber Presverfahren hydraulic press, capable of producing 3650 kiloponds per square centimetre. Finding itself in financial difficulties, Orovit A.G was purchased in 1905 by Württembergische MetallwarenFabrik. In 1906 Orivit A.G. acquired Orion and 60 of their designs were carried over into the Orivit range.
