Russian Silver Gilt and Enamel Vodka Decanter and Goblet Set

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Russian silver and polychrome cloisonné enamel vodka decanter and goblet set; an addition to our range of drinks related silverware. Description: This exceptional antique Russian silver gilt vodka compendium consists of a decanter / bottle and six goblets, all displayed on the original stand. The decanter has a circular rounded, tear form onto a circular spreading foot. The surface of this vintage decanter is embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné floral motifs accented with foliate designs using various tones of blue, green, red and white sections of polychrome enamel, all on a black enamel background. The ornamentation to the body includes white enamel borders accented with black circular motifs, segmenting the neck and the bulbous body. The domed circular rounded foot and tapering neck of the decanter/jug is embellished with a white enamel, graduating tiered lobed design. Each segment of polychrome enamel is encompassed with applied silver gilt paralleling rope twist ornamentation. The goblets have a circular, tapering bell shaped form to a knopped pedestal and domed circular foot. Each silver goblet is ornamented with further polychrome enamel decoration, reflecting that of the bottle/decanter. The components of this vintage Russian silver goblet and decanter set sits to the original stand. The Russian silver gilt stand has a circular form and is supported by three ball style feet. The anterior surface of the stand is embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné enamel floral motifs and white lobed motifs to the inner and outer circumferences, reflecting the design of the bottle and goblets. The surface of the stand features six plain circular goblet receivers, in addition to a central sunken receiver for the decanter. The hallmarks to the underside of each Russian silver gilt piece includes: Maker's mark: ??? (Untraced) Soviet silver mark: Hammer and sickle star emblem Assay mark: ? (Leningrad*) Silver quality/purity mark: 916 (916/1000) The anterior and interior surfaces of this impressive Russian set retain the original gilding. The modern day city name of Lenigrad is St. Petersburg. Note: This piece was previously the property of the British Labour politician Harold Wilson (James Harold Wilson, Baron Wilson of Rievaulx), who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1964 - 1970 and 1974 - 1976. Condition: This vintage Russian silver goblet and decanter set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The enamel is in perfect condition. The Russian hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of vintage Russian silverware.
