About the Item
The butter spade is of an unusually large size, the largest we have offered over the years. The spade is modelled in the Old English pattern and the triangular blade is unusually pierced with a band of triangular motifs and roundels, the first time we have seen this design. The spade is very well marked, on the reverse, and is engraved with the contemporary initial "E". The top of the stem is also engraved with a contemporary Crest, although slightly worn. The quality and gauge is excellent. A rare piece indeed.
Measures: Length 8.5 inches, 21.25 cm.
Width at widest part of the blade: 2.1 inches, 5.25 cm.
Weight: 4oz.
