Barry Huggett Salt Glazed Slip Trailed Studio Potter Jug

About the Item

A very stylish and well potted Carnon Downs Pottery salt glazed jug with slip trailed patterning by Cornish based potter Barry Huggett and dating from around 1996. The stoneware jug stands on a narrow round foot with a wide round body on a conical shaped lower body with a narrow neck and wide top rim with a hand pinched and shaped pouring spout. A grooved strap work handle is applied to the side. The jug is decorated with abstract slip trailed pattering in relief around the upper body in white against a brown streaked honey glazed upper section and with and orange salt glazed lower section. Glazed to the interior the jug has impressed personal potters seal marks below the handle with a further mark applied to the base. Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market. In good condition.
