About the Item
This wash jug originally came from the Sarreguemines factory in eastern France. The Parisia pattern was created in 1895 at the end of the 19th century. The decoration on this jug features delicate floral motifs and a medallion on both sides depicting a beautiful woman's face, rendered in a very soft blue tone. Today, it can be used as an elegant decorative piece in the home, but can also be repurposed as a vase or a jug for water or fruit juice on a table. It has no visible cracks or chips, just a tiny chip under the spout measuring approximately 1 mm. Vintage Danish Glass Vase by Per Lutken for Holmegaard in 1960s
By Per Lutken for Holmegaard
Located in SAINT-YRIEIX-SUR-CHARENTE, FR
Glass vase (H:25cm), design by Per Lutken (1916-1998), published by the famous Danish glassworks Holmegaard. The bluish tone, the thickness of the glass visible at the top is an integral part of the design of this vase, dated and signed underneath.
Per Lutken was a famous Danish glassmaker who joined Holmegaard in 1942 and worked there until his death. He contributed to the revival of the glass industry, which was running out of steam at the time, by bringing his pure and timeless style, which has become a classic of Scandinavian design and can be found in many Danish and Swedish homes. He was very productive and for decades created numerous models that made the glassware industry successful in Denmark and around the world. The Holmegaard factory was founded in 1823 in Næstved, southwest of Copenhagen, and started its activity by manufacturing green and brown bottles, and later turned to art glass. Count Christian Conrad Danneskiold-Samsøe bought the Holmegaard estate and realised that the local peat could be used as fuel. He asked the Danish king...
