1958 Georges Briard Bent Glass Olympia Serving Dishes w. Gold & Pink Decor

About the Item

Mid Century Modern two pieces of Georges Briard designed OLYMPIA pattern serving dishes with gold & plum/pink colors. Rare pattern of a gold center design of 3 seating Greek muses each holding a different item and a border of geometric designs in gold and claret (the named color). First appearing in the 1958 catalogue of Georges Briard Designs for manufacterer Glass Guild of New York. Jascha Brojdo (1917-2005) was born in Ukraine, Russia, at the time, to a wealthy and prominent family. In 1937 he imigrated to the US. where he became a prominent designer under the name Georges Briard. Most of his creations are in the glassware and dishware production but furniture was also designed by him. Briards creations were coveted and were sold in fashionable stores like Nieman Marcus. In Very Very Good condition. No scratches. Colors vibrant. No gold missing. Probably never used. Measurements: Large- 11 5/8 inches square x 1 3/8 inches high _ Small - 5 3/4 inches square x 1 inch high

Lovely Copper Enameled Platter from the 1950s by Harold Tishler. A dusty rose enamel over the bright copper background graces this piece. There are some intentional gray streaks over some areas. The bottom is glaze with a maroon cloor center and outer edge and a soft pink circle separating the two. Instead of having a sharp edge around the circumsference, the edge has been folded over and under creating a soft rim. Signed on the bottom H. Tishler. Condition: Very Good. Two small drilled wholes on either side of the rim for firing purposes (not seem from above). Please look at all images and view our other Tishler enamels’ listings. Measurements: 10 1/4 inches diameter x 3/8 inch high Harold Tishler (1893, Odessa – 1993, Florida) Studied engineering in 1910 at University of Grenoble but did not finished his studies and moved to New York 1913. During WWI, he joined the Merchant Marines and while visiting Japan was introduced to the art of Cloisonne enameling. In 1927, Tishler went to Vienna to study under Josef Hoffmann. Upon his return to NYC in 1932, he began producing copper and silver enamels that were sold at high-end stores.
