An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver plate made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to our dining silverware collection.
This exceptional Victorian sterling silver plate has a plain circular shaped form with a plain circular central well.
The well of this fine antique plate is plain and unembellished.
The shaped border is ornamented with a fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting hand holding birds' leg erased a` la quise (at the thigh) all above the motto 'Nescit vox missa reverti' - word once spoken can never be recalled. .
The border is further embellished with impressive applied scrolling leaf and floral motifs to each incurve.
The underside of the plate bears the retailer's mark 'Garrards, Panton Street, London'.

A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver serving dish with cover made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to dining silverware collection
This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver dish has a rounded hexagonal form.
The body of the serving dish is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant*.
The plain body is encompassed with a cast and applied rosette border to the rim, accented with a leaf decorated corner pieces.
The dish is fitted with an impressive domed hexagonal cover, embellished with chased interlacing foliate and trellis designs, all on a matte background to the rounded sides.
The upper portion of the domed cover is ornamented with further chased foliate decoration, accented with a paralleling scalloped border.
The cover is surmounted with a magnificent cast hallmarkedsterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of the aforementioned crest; a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant.
