About the Item

Axel Salto for Royal Copenhagen. Four pairs of coffee cups in white porcelain. Dating: 1962 Designed by Axel Salto in 1956. In perfect condition. First factory quality. Cup: 8.0 cm in diameter without handle x Height 6.5 cm. Saucer: Diameter 14.7 cm. Axel Salto (1889-1961), was a Danish painter, graphic designer, illustrator and ceramic artist. Today is known as one of the finest masters of 20th-century modern ceramic art. He collaborated with the manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl, later with Carl Hallier at his Frederiksberg studio, then briefly with Saxbo ceramics, and finally with Royal Copenhagen, where he was a designer from 1933 until the 1950s.
