About the Item
Chinese Famille Rose Teapot, Yongzheng Period (1723–1735)
Dimensions: Height: 13 cm (5.1 in) Diameter (widest): 9 cm (3.6 in)
Materials & Technique: Hard-paste porcelain, hand-painted in vibrant famille rose palette
Description:
An exquisite example of early 18th-century Chinese porcelain from the Yongzheng reign, this compact teapot is beautifully executed in the famille rose palette. The rounded body, gently tapering to a short spout and curved handle, carries a lush floral design of peonies, chrysanthemums, and scrolling foliage, painted with delicate brushwork in bright reds, greens, yellow, and cobalt. The domed lid, crowned with a lotus-bud finial, complements the form and colour of the vessel below. A polished glaze covers the surface, yielding a soft sheen that highlights both motif and form.
An eloquent statement of refined decoration paired with everyday utility, this teapot exemplifies Yongzheng porcelain’s celebrated combination of sophistication and domestic elegance.
