Doulton Burslem Art Deco Silver Mounted Coffee Cup Set

About the Item

A scarce and exceptional Doulton Burslem Art Deco silver mounted coffee cup set complete with saucer and original spoon and dated 1929. The porcelain trumpet shaped coffee cup sits within a purpose made silver mount with stylized pierced panels with flowers and scroll designs very reminiscent of the earlier Art Nouveau influences. The holder has an integral flat-topped handle and a small clip attached to the top of the handle holds the cup in place. The cup is decorated in bright yellow glazes and has a green printed Doulton Burslem mark to the base. The set comes complete with a matching saucer of round shape with a central fitted recess and raised edge and also comes with a matching silver spoon with a twist stem and shaped handle. All the silver items have impressed makers marks for Roberts & Belk together with London silver hallmarks dating the set to 1929. Provenance: acquired from the British Art market. In good condition.
