About the Item

Ludwigsburg porcelain group, modelled by Johann Christoph Haselmeyer, c. 1770. A courting couple, dressed in 18th Century costume, seated upon rocks, before an elaborate rococo scroll architectural feature, edged in gilt. The boy holds a pipe, whilst attempting caress the girl, who attempts to avoid his advance. She holds a small knife in her right hand, which she has used to gather the bunches of grapes, which she has collected in a basket. Finely modelled, and detailed in pastel shades. Underglaze blue crowned interlaced ‘C’s monogram to the base. Height – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”. Width – 17.3 cm, 6 3/4”. Depth – 10.3 cm, 4 1/8”. Condition – Typical repair and chips to fingers, to pipe, bow on girls left shoe, commensurate with the age of the group. Overall, in excellent condition.
