Meissen porcelain shepherd & shepherdess, c. 1770.

About the Item

A fine pair of Meissen porcelain figure groups, c.1765 -1775. Elaborately modelled by Carl Christoph Punct, as a shepherd and shepherdess, in 18th Century dress, and set upon open rocaille bases. The bare footed shepherd with three hounds, above a flower strewn ground. His companion, seated, wearing a garland of flowers, and accompanied by three sheep. Underglaze blue crossed swords mark beneath the boy, underglaze blue crossed swords mark and star beneath the girl. Height – 17 cm, 6 5/8”. Width – 16.5 cm, 6 1/2”. Depth – 8 cm, 3 1/8”. Condition – Typical minor repairs to the extremities, commensurate with he age and complexity of the figures. The figures are actually in excellent condition.
