About the Item

Excellent Art Nouveau porcelain figurine by August Ringler: Naked winged cupid, loosely covered with a cloth fastened by an embroidered belt, looking down at a winged, flaming heart and guiding it along the long rein. The figure is supported from behind by a tree trunk with foliage and stands on a high round earth base with a grooved side and gold-plated rocaille decoration. Particularly loving attention to detail. Designer: AUGUST RINGLER (1837 - 1918) studied at the trade school in Nördlingen, Germany. Between 1856 and 1904 he worked as a modeller for the Meissen Manufactory and specialized in the design of groups of figures in the Rococo style, putti, bird figures and dogs. Model P 138 was created 1894.
