Meissen Art Nouveau Figurine, Young Lady Ring Thrower, by R. Boeltzig, Ca 1924

About the Item

Extremely decorative full-sculptural representation of an Art Nouveau beauty in softly falling robe held together by straps on the upper part of the body with partially exposed breast, in graceful striding pose, the upper part of the body slightly tilted back, the hair artfully tied with large bow, holding the hoop in the left hand, a staff in the right. The figure is based on white octagonal base with gold rims and artist's signature on the top. Modeller: REINHOLD ARTHUR HERMANN BOELTZIG (1863 Berlin to 1941 Berlin) was a German sculptor. Studied at the Academy in Berlin, 1930 professor, he was a board member of the artists' association of Berlin sculptors and also worked as a designer for the Meissen porcelain manufactory. The model of the ring thrower was created in 1909 and, in addition to being made of porcelain, also exists in bronze.
