Johann Joachim Kaendler (born in 1706 near Dresden / Germany - died 1775 in Meissen).
Model 1068 created circa 1748.
Kaendler was chief sculptor at Meissen manufactory as from 1742 until the year 1775. He is the most famous modeller Meissen manufactory ever had and created well-known series such as Shepherd Figurines, Comedian's Children, Gardener Children (with Acier), Paris Town Criers (with Reinicke and Meyer), Gallant Figurines, Asian Figurines etc.

Detailed description:
Subject: Figurine group / The Four Seasons, four cherubs symbolizing fall - winter - spring - summer:
° A figurine wearing a wreath of flower blossoms as well as a flower in left hand (SPRING)
° A cherub holding ears of grain and a sickle (SUMMER)
° A figurine holding up a red wine glass and seizing a jar by left hand; beyond that, the cherub wearing a wreath of wine leaves on head sits on a wine cask (FALL / AUTUMN)
° Finally, the head of fourth cherub is covered by fur coat, holding a pot filled with embers (WINTER).
The four figurines are supported by base edged by Rocaille ornaments.
