Meissen tall Cupid figurine: Cherub holding a dove of peace with love letter The details are stunningly sculptured = finest modelling Manufactory: Meissen Dating: Made 1880-1890 Hallmarked: Meissen mark with pommels on hilts (latest 19th century) First quality Model number M 115 / former's number 6 Material: Multicolored porcelain, partially golden painted, glossy finish Technique: Handmade porcelain Style: Rococo Design: Johann Pollak (1843 - 1917). The sculptor had studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (Germany) / he was active as Professor there in later period. The artist was educated as sculptor, wood carver and painter. - Pollak's works were internationally esteemed since he had gotten orders deriving from most important towns such as Rome, Paris, Brussels, London and Chicago / he was even active in India. - The model M 115 was created, circa 1880.   First quality Specifications: The boyish naked and tall winged cherub holds up a dove of peace which wears a love letter (obviously the dove has to fly away in order to deliver its message) / beyond that, amor cherub seizes a burning heart whereas a quiver filled with arrows of love is attached to figurine's right hip. The figurine is based on rocky ground as well as supported by round base.
