About the Item

Rosenthal Vase "Renaissance" by Jan van der Vaart and Daniel Groen, 1989 This vase is designed by the Dutch ceramist Jan van der Vaart for Rosenthal and painted by Daniel Groen Comes with the certificate and next text inside: Born in 1931, Dutch ceramist Jan van der Vaart, whose work has won him countless awards, has developed an interesting vase design for Rosenthal.Of the four sides of the vase, each opposite pair of sides is either concave or convex, creating an exciting foundation for a variety of decorations. Painter and draughtsman Daniel Groen was born in 1957. His work has been shown in top galleries both at home and abroad. In a similar way to Picasso, Groen goes back to classical motifs for his subject matter and likewise succeeds in producing a mode of representation which is congenial to the modern eye. The motif chosen for this vase betrays Groen's fascination for the work of Raphael. The four sides of the vase have been incorporated in an all-round depiction, i.e. the beholder must rotate the vase in order to follow the action. As in Baroque painting, an arm or some other part of the human body guides the beholder's eye into the next part of the picture. Altogether it is a depiction of classical serenity, of triumphant spirits in a painterly, relaxed sphere. Even the defeated, green-bellied creature resigns itself tom its fate in a suitable dignified way. The vase is signed by Daniel Groen '89 and numbered with serial 194 limited to 200 editions The measurement is 30 cm high, 20.7 cm high The depth is 14 cm.
