Tea service for twelve people Foam design Eva ZEISEL for SMF Schramberg Majolika Fabrik. The service consists of a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug and twelve cups with saucers. ORIGIN Germany PERIOD 1930s DESIGNER Eva ZEISEL was a Hungarian-American industrial designer known for her innovative work in ceramics and everyday object design. Born November 13, 1906, in Budapest, Hungary, Zeisel had a prolific career that spanned much of the 20th century and had a significant impact on modern design. Zeisel began his career as an apprentice in a ceramics factory in Budapest. Later, he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In 1928, he began working as a freelance designer, getting commissions from various European factories. One of Eva Zeisel's most significant collaborations was with the Schramberg Majolika Fabrik, a ceramics factory located in Schramberg, Germany. The collaboration with the Schramberg Majolika Fabrik took place during the 1930s, a crucial period in the development of modern design in Europe. Zeisel's work for Schramberg reflected a modern, functional approach to design, characterized by fluid forms and clean lines. He introduced design elements that were both innovative and practical, helping to make Schramberg's ceramics not only beautiful but also functional. Zeisel was influenced by the Bauhaus movement and European modernism, elements she incorporated into her creations for Schramberg. His ability to combine aesthetics and functionality resulted in a series of products that were cutting edge for the time. MARK Schramberg Majolika Fabrik Founded in 1820, the Schramberg Majolika Fabrik was known for producing high-quality artistic ceramics and everyday objects.
