About the Item
Decorated charger by celebrated studio pottery artists Edwin & Mary Scheier.
The work is in excellent condition with no damage and features two sgrafitto figures.
Inscribed on the bottom “Scheier,” the plate measures 1.25"h x 10.5" in diameter.
A wonderful piece by the late couple who worked in clay for 60 years together.
Mary (1910-2007) and Edwin (1910-2008) Scheier were a married couple who worked collaboratively on pottery throughout their 69-year marriage. Mary was an expert on the potter's wheel, while Edwin decorated the works with motifs reflecting his interest in spirituality and anthropology. Although originally from New Hampshire, they spent nearly a decade in Oaxaca, Mexico, and imagery from this experience began to appear on their works. They lived and worked in Green Valley, Arizona, and their works are included in numerous museum and private collections.

Robert Picault (1919 - 2000)
French ceramist in Vallauris
Robert Picault has contributed to the revival of culinary ceramics by updating traditional local forms decorated with lines and geometric designs.
His identity style has been a great success and continues to decorate the table today. His personal pieces are sought after by art collectors.
