About the Item
A stunning Dutch Gouda, Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland Art Deco pottery wall plate hand painted in the Art Nouveau inspired Gaberone design and believed to date between 1920 and 1929. The rounded bowl shaped plaque is body painted with a central flower surrounded with leaves and scroll designs and with flowering stems emerging from it and decorating the rim of the plate. The plate is painted in bold colors on a cream ground with a simple black painted edge around the rim. The plate is extensively marked to the base and includes the title Gaberone which we assume to be the name of the design. With hanging holes applied to the foot rim.
