Victorian pair of Staffordshire pottery hand painted copper lustre dogs with split legs, circa 1860. They have well defined fur, a black muzzle and golden eyes. Measuring approximately height 22.86 cm / 9 inches by width at the base 18 cm / 7 inches, and depth 12 cm / 4.7 inches. The dogs have typical crazing, one dog has an old chip and crack to the underneath / side. Because these figurines were hand made they are not perfect, and that is their character and appeal.

The "Peace, Plenty and Independence" Liverpool transfer decorated creamware jug has a black transfer print on one side depicting a spread wing eagle perched atop a cannon flanked by symbols of Peace and Plenty with the other side with the "Farmer's Arms," the front with "Samuel & Rachel Hayne.s" within a wreath above four lines of verse, inspired by Cupid's Lessons, reading, "My love is Fix'd, I cannot range,I like my choice,Too well to change". a second stanza not shown read " Long may we live, Happy may we be, Blest with content, And from misfortune be".
Dimensions: 10 1/8 inch height x 9 inches wide x 6 1/4 inches deep.

Two fine English Georgian, probably Staffordshire, child’s pearlware plates decorated with religious scenes and verse dating from the early 19th century. The finely potted plates are of octagonal shape both with relief molded fruit and floral designs to the rim, one hand painted and other simply glazed rim but with a pink lustre edge. Due to the edge patterning being the same we believe the plates to have originated from the same pottery. Both plates have printed religious scenes to the center with printed prayers, possibly as teaching aids for children. One has a scene of Christ rising from the dead with a prayer reading ‘Behold him rising from the grave. Behold him raised on high. This massive and rare pitcher is fully decorated with the imagery and symbols of the Odd Fellows (see images). Odd Fellows promote philanthropy, the ethic of reciprocity, and charity.
At the front of the pitcher, we see a panel with the words, "We are odd Fellows When we act and Do the thing which is Right."
Around this panel are the words "How grand in Age How fair in Youth is Holly Friendship, Love and Truth."
Above the panel is an open palm with a heart symbolic of charity given from the heart.
On both sides of the pitcher is the Odd FFellows'smotto, "Amicitia Amor et Veritas,"; which translates to Friendship, Love, and Truth.
The motto is seen together with an image of Lady Justice and an angel holding a budding branch. Lady Justice personifies morality in judicial systems. The budding branch symbolizes the idea that truth can "draw freshness and verdure" from the "most barren facts and common things in life" and give them life and interest.
Above all of this is a shining sun. As the sun shines on us all, it symbolizes impartiality in the benevolence of the Odd Fellows.

Condition: Very Good, with an invisible restoration only to the underside of the vase and some scratching, particularly to the lustered leaves, flowers, and the lustered top edge.

A stunning antique Minton Majolica pottery figure of a boy holding a basket, probably for salt, and dating from around 1879. The figure stands raised on a rounded rockwork base with a tree stump with the boy leaning on the stump and dressed in period costume with a jacket and knee length shorts and wearing a rounded hat with ribbon. He holds a basket in front of him and is hand painted in naturalistic Majolica colors in typical yellows, greens, blues, browns and natural skin tones. Hicks Meigh ironstone armorial sauce tureens, covers and stands made for the 41st Regiment,
circa 1815-1822.
Dimensions: Length: 9 1/4 inches x 7 inches high
The Hicks & Meigh ironstone tureens are unusually decorated with the Royal Crown with the Roman numerals "XLI" below on an Imari ground.
Mark: Printed in blue with Royal Arms above Stone China.
Reference: From the 41st Regiment Military Living Group
The original name of the Regiment was "Colonel Edmund Fielding's Regiment of Invalids", raised in 1719 from out-pensioners of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, for garrison duty "at home".
On July 1, 1751, the Regiment was numbered 41st and redesignated as The 41st Regiment of Foot (or Invalids), with service confined mainly to the Portsmouth garrison, with detachments at Plymouth and Jersey.

Late 18th Century
The large polychrome creamware bowl has a scene to one side depicting a sailor's farewell. The officer, with a sword in a scabbard to his right hip, stands with arms crossed and his female companion looks away from him as she holds a parasol in her hand. In the background in a Royal Navy frigate at anchor and a sailor in a longboat rowing towards him.
To the reverse side is a charming chinoiserie scene of two women and a young boy watching...
