Antique Scottish Horn and Yellow Gold Quaich, circa 1890
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Scottish Horn and 9-karat yellow gold quaich; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Scottish quaich /bowl has a plain circular rounded form.
The well of the Horn body retains the original 9-karat yellow gold circular panel ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials 'SGAUB, ASI'.
The two handles are ornamented with navette shaped gold panels, embellished with an engraved cross with a nimbus to one side and a Scottish thistle to the other.
This impressive antique quaich has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 9-karat gold.
Condition
This antique Scottish quaich is an exceptional gauge of gold, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The Horn is in perfect condition. The engraved ornamentation is very crisp. There are no hallmarks as to be expected with such a piece; the date and origin can be determined by the composition and decoration.

This magnificent William IV sterling silver punch ladle has been hand forged in a rare and unusual design.
The handle of the punch/soup ladle has been realistically modelled in the form of a horse's head, emanating from an impressive scrolling enveloping leaf design.
The tapering stem is embellished with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription 'Presented to A. C. Renton by his father on his birth day, 3rd May 1833'.
The reverse of this impressive example of antique silverware features an exceptional honeysuckle style heel to the shell shaped bowl.
This exceptional 19th century example of Scottish silverware retains the original gilding.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver and agate handled server; an addition to our diverse silverware collection.
This impressive antique Dutch silver server has an oval shaped blade.
The anterior face of the blade is embellished with impressive finely pierced diaper pattern decoration encompassed with a paralleling bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decorated border.
The blade is further ornamented with a bright cut engraved scalloped border to the rim blending to a plain border to the incurve.
The reverse of the blade is plain and unembellished.
This exceptional example of antique silverware retains the original and exceptional faceted agate handle.
The ferrule and lower portion of the stem are ornamented with an engraved simplified lozenge design accented with a trellis pattern.
