About the Item

This liqueur set was designed by Dante Baldelli for the renowned Italian ceramicist Rometti Umbertide in 1930. It consists of a liqueur decanter, six matching glasses, and a round tray. Each piece of this glazed ceramic set features distinctive geometric lines characteristic of the Art Deco style. The enamel colors, ranging from volcanic red to deep black, create a captivating contrast. The signature Ceramiche Rometti Umbertide is stamped on the underside of the decanter. The pieces are in excellent condition. The glasses diameter is 2.35 inches and height is 1.58 inches. Tray’s diameter is 10.63 inches, and decanter carafe height is 6.3 inches. Son of Stamura Rometti, founder of the Rometti ceramic manufacturing company in Umbertide, Dante Baldelli (1904-1953) became the artistic director of the family business after completing his studies. Baldelli exhibited his works as early as 1930, including a piece titled "Autobiografia," marking the beginning of his career as a ceramicist. During his time at the Rometti factory, he created pieces for prestigious exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. After the war, he established his own workshop, Baldelli Ceramiche, in Città di Castello, where he continued his craft until his death. Founded in 1927 in Umbertide by the ceramist Settimio Rometti, Ceramiche Rometti embodies a century-old heritage of artisanal excellence in Italian ceramics. Renowned for its avant-garde designs and meticulous craftsmanship, the company has continuously pushed the boundaries of ceramic art, leaving a lasting imprint on the cultural landscape of the time.
