About the Item
This extremely large and substantial ice trough or centerpiece is a marriage of an inverted meat dome with a silver plated stand. The meat dome has no maker's mark, but presumed to have been made in England in circa 1890. The handle of the dome has been removed and has been inverted to function as a large reservoir for ice or as a centerpiece with drain holes where the handle once was fastened. The dome has nice banded decoration around the exterior done with a stylized leaf and vine motif. The stand is very sturdy and has tastefully cast serpentine feet The original handle to the dome is being included.
