Antique George IV Sterling Silver Mustard Pot

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique George IV English sterling silver mustard pot; an addition to our 19th century silverware collection. This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver mustard pot has a circular, compressed rounded form. The surface of this silver mustard pot is plain and unembellished, encircled with a gadroon decorated border to the rim. This fine silver mustard pot retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover, ornamented with a convex lobed petal design emanating from a cast silver floriated finial. The posterior of the cover is further ornamented with a plain lobed thumbpiece, to the upper portion of the hinge. This exceptional mustard pot is fitted with a thread decorated C shaped handle. This exceptional rounded silver mustard pot retains the original gilded interior. This impressive example of antique silverware is supplied with an associated hallmarked sterling silver spoon. This exceptional mustard pot was crafted by the renowned London silversmith Robert Hennell II. Condition This antique silver mustard pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all clear; the hallmarks are not as deeply struck as expected for the exceptional gauge of silver due to the rounded nature of the body's surface. The part hallmarks to the sleeve of the cover are very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional rounded silver mustard pot.
