About the Item

A very handsome and heavy sterling silver cream jug of oval bellied form, decorated with an engraved band of repeating 'bright cut' guilloche motifs and a loop shaped handle with bright-cut detail, the interior exhibiting an exceptionally fine and rich gilded surface. Weight: 211 grams (6.78 troy ounces). Void of hallmarks due to an early repair to the rim, the underside of the base showing stippled makers marks GA & CG and dated 1811, which is consistent with both the form and decoration during that date period.
