About the Item
A superb, large, SOLID SILVER TANKARD.
Made in Birmingham, England in 1951 - 73 years old and in perfect condition. Must have been kept, wrapped up in a drawer, ever since it was made as there is not a single blemish to be seen.
Barrel shaped, with a shallow, trumpet shaped foot, and with a strong "C"
shaped handle.
On picture 8 are the identifying marks that have been applied by the
Birmingham Assay Office:-
CSG over &S:- Maker`s mark for C S Green Ltd., Warstone Lane, Birmingham.
Anchor:- Assay Office Mark.
Lion:- Sterling Silver guarantee mark.
"B":- Date letter for 1951
Height:- 112 millimetres / 4.41 inches.
Diameter:- 92 mms. / 3.62 ins.
Weight:- 317 grams / 10.1 ounces.
