About the Item

Simple elegance with that certain something: Two six-flame candleholders on a round, smooth base with fluted stepped rim, trumpet-shaped raised shaft, chalice forming after constriction with moulded acanthus leaf tip rim, from which rise six S-shaped curved smooth round arms with vase-shaped spouts with acanthus leaf cuffs at the ends, central raised cluster of acanthus leaf stalks with flower bud. Hallmarks: Dianahead in hexagon - Austrian official hallmark 1872-1922 for 900 silver 900.000 FEIN - silver fineness J.C.KLINKOSCH - Manufactory sign of Josef Carl KLINKOSCH Founded in 1830 by Stephan Mayerhofer and Carl Klinkosch: 'K. k. Court and state priv. Gold, silver u. Plating manufacturers'. The Mayerhofer & Klinkosch silver workshop had developed into one of the most successful companies in the industry by 1850. In 1869 Josef Carl Klinkosch became the sole owner and the successor company 'Gold-, Silber- und Metallwaren-Fabrik J. C. Klinkosch' was established. The company's success remained the same: Like his father, Josef Carl Klinkosch also received numerous commissions from the imperial court in Vienna.
