About the Item

This most remarkable English papier mâché tray is in pristine condition with almost no losses or signs or wear, it has some light crazing to the lacquer. This most attractive English tray has a serpentine shaped edge which is finished in black and enhanced in rich elaborate gilt foliate decoration. The centre is made up of a view of a moonlit landscape. The landscape is hand painted with vibrant hand painted flowers in the foreground with a beautiful peacock looking over a wooded landscape with mountains, a castle, a church and a lighthouse out in the distant bay. This very pleasing and rare English tray is in fabulous condition and is the best example we have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale. English, circa 1840 Height 2cm x width 45cm x depth 35cm

A Fine Early 19th C English Davenport Dish, Circa 1835 A rare William IIII period Davenport porcelain kidney shaped dish raised up on to three foliate and scrolled feet.
