About the Item

Extraordinarily rare and fine Antique English Sheffield silver plate and hand painted porcelain Toast or Letter Rack in the imari decor. The plating is in pristine, age-appropriate condition. Toast racks, typically in silver or silver plate, are a staple item in every British household. Toast is a daily food source with tea or coffee anytime of the day, allowing the air between the slices to become crisp and crunchy as is the desired consistency. These toast racks (original use) are perfect for letter racks or napkins on a buffet. This toast rack is in superb, age-appropriate condition. Maker's mark on base of porcelain for Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co (Hanley, Staffs.) With rare Registration lozenge on base for February 24, 1872. (Only the best pieces were registered.)
