Este Ceramic Large Majolica Onion Tureen Covered Dish Centerpiece, 1960

About the Item

This original Majolica ceramic soup tureen or centerpiece, shaped like an onion, was designed and manufactured by Este Ceramiche, Italy. The rare piece was crafted in Italy circa 1960. This covered dish or bowl is crafted and painted by hand by the master ceramic artists in the Northern Italian town of Este. The covered dish still has its original large ceramic serving spoon. Most of the production is in limited editions, sometimes just a few pieces from each model. The tureen is marked on the underside with the Made in Italy label. Dimensions: The tureen is 10.82 in diameter (27.5 cm) x 10.25 in high (26 cm). The spoon is 11.44 in long (29 cm) x 3.57 in wide (9 cm) x 2.38 in high (6 cm) Este Ceramiche e Porcellane is an Italian company established in the 18th century in its present location (North of Italy in Este). It is also one of the oldest ceramics manufacturers in Europe. Its products offer clients an insight into the history of the art of dining and interior decor. The atmosphere and location of the factory are enchanting. It is located along the city walls and faces the canal that once advertised their products to Venice.
