Antique English Stafforshire Pearlware Figure of Andromache & Hector's Urn

About the Item

A fine antique pearlware figurine. Depicting Andromache embracing (and weeping over) Hector's urn that is supported by a plinth. Decorated in polychrome. Simply a wonderful early allegorical English figure! For reference: please see Pat Halfpenny's English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840; p. 249 Date: Late 18th or Early 19th Century Condition: It is in overall very fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are some hairline cracks to the body, a small chip to the base, and a firing flaw to the elbow. There is fine & tight crazing throughout, light edge wear, & 2 small chips to the back of the pedestal. Otherwise, there are very few fine and light surface scratches here and there and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: English Measurements: Height: ca. 9 in.
