About the Item

Plaster Sculpture of a Samurai Warrior The Samurai were a caste of warrior in Japan for over 7 Centuries, this plaster figure celebrates the Samurai in all his elegant finery He is bare footed and is carrying a large decorated fan in one hand and making the sign to ward off evil with the other, beneath his coat we can see his sword It is impossible to emphasise the fineness of the detail in this piece, from the twisted under garments and flaring of the coat to the fine skin tones The statue been fully restored it is set on a square plinth and there is a signature underneath, I believe that this is a piece of French manufacture The statue is 40” tall and the base is 10” square KW225
