About the Item

Primitive Cockerel Weathervane Sculpture by Martin Scorey (1961 - 2021) Carved and painted textured wood body with lead wings and small lead wattles. Simple bold silhouette. Circa 2010. Measurement Inc stand Martin Scorey was a British Contemporary Artist renowned for his contribution to folk and outsider art. Initially trained as a boat builder, whilst fostering a love and appreciation of the art world where he developed his own distinctive style incorporating elements of natural history, tribal motifs and Nautical themes. All of his works reflect his unique perspective on traditional art forms, they are bold and unencumbered by academic process. His legacy continues to influence and inspire the contemporary Folk Art scene.
