Dayak Men’s Carved Horn Utility Knife
About the Item
A fine carved water Buffalo horn Men’s Utility knife in traditional form. Used for tasks within the extensive forest areas of the Dayak Tribes in Borneo, the knife has the original curved steel blade housed in a hand-carved sculptural handle having a kneeling male figure with folded arms wearing a tall ceremonial headdress. There is a ring fro hanging from a belt and a simple carved bone collar for the blade. The horn has a fine natural polish and age patina as does the bone collar and blade. The knife is beautifully balanced and feels particularly tactile in the hand.
Dimensions: 9” wide by 1.25” deep by .35” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Original condition with some age craklure to the horn and very small losses to the ring and bone collar with appropriate aging to the steel blade which do not detract from the particularly fine tribal presentation.
