About the Item

Early Papua New Guinea abstract hook figure or mask with two opposing hooks, and central looped design, Sepik River area. Some chips missing to central loops. Small hole at top for suspension. Overall weathered eroded surface. Pieces like this were stored in caves exposed to the elements which create the aged surface. Mask is 26 3/4 inches high, on custom wood and metal base total height 37 inches. Ex- Lacy Collection, CA.
