About the Item

19th Century English folk art metal weathervane Removable from its mounted 19th Century hand carved church stand, this highly decorative English folk-art weathervane in the form of a cockerel still stands tall and proud after all these years. Made from metal zinc sections with a charming red comb on its head, uncovered from a private folk art dealer earlier this month. An authentic, untouched example. Dimensions in inches: H 21” x W 30” x D 7” (with stand H 44” x W 40” x D 12”) Age: Late 19th Century Origin: Devon (UK) Condition: Aged The base alone weights roughly 20kg which is reflected in the shipping costs. The item will be packed separately from its stand once shipped. This item is completely authentic in its age and look, dated close to over 100 years old as is the stand it comes with. The metal is aged and corroded at its base (it still has hay inside and likely came from a farm originally), with dents, missing painted surface and rust this object has stood the test of time without doubt. It is firm in form and not loose in structure. We strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment upon purchase. A direct message usually takes 24 hours to answer. For multiple years we have sold antique items globally, please expect our items to show relevant age and natural wear, Items only restored due to breaks and major loss, and we always stipulate this in our condition report.
