Four Tulip Chandelier in Frosted Glass and Satin Nickeled Bronze
About the Item
This chandelier is a very pretty French early Art Deco luminaire. A classical, curled and flourished canopy extends a deco styled tasseled central elongated element. Straight rods then drop to support a three armed molded dark nickeled bronze frame decorated with stylized roses and arched trellises to a bottom acorn finial. Four frosted art glass fluted tulips provide up lighting.

Rectangular Billiard Style Glass Rod and Nickel Chandelier, P. Fargette, 1940
By P. Fargette
Located in New York City, NY
This unique rectangular shaped modernist chandelier, circa 1940, is attributed to P. Fargette. A French chandelier of billiard style and Industrial Design with an elongated demilune edge profile, stepped flat frosted bottom glass and sides formed of stacked glass rods which give a ridged appearance. Twin rods lower the chandelier from a protracted demilune shaped nickel-plated bronze canopy which invokes the shape of the chandelier. The chandelier is accented on either end by an eight pointed star, a favorite design motif prominent in the 1940s. Pyrex glass rods as seen on the sides of the chandelier were first used in this way in 1944 by Frank Lloyd Wright in his controversial Johnson Wax Building...
