French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier
About the Item
A stunning and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier. This very unique twelve light oval shaped chandelier is centered by rosette cut Crystals linked together to form five sections within the body that are separated by Ormolu bands. The twelve acanthus leaf decorated 'C' scrolled arms are mounted on the mid section which displays crossing square mottled bezels with rosette cut Crystals occupying the space between. Hanging below each arm as well as the bottom edge of the frame are wonderful tear drop cut Crystals. Leaning inwards are scrolling pierced supports decorated by Crystals in the center and additional tear drop cut Crystals hanging from their ends. The scrolling supports assist in presenting the circular pierced central tier which is decorated by Crystals in the center. The peaks of each scrolling support have scalloped linked chains leading upwards to the top crown. The top crown exhibits a foliate decorated acorn bottom finial and scrolling acanthus leaf bands atop which showcase swaging Crystal garlands, rosette cut Crystals, and tear drop cut Crystal pendants below.
