French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier
About the Item
An impressive and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu and Crystal chandelier. This stunning nine arm twenty light Montgolfière shaped chandelier is centered by an acorn bottom finial below a reeded and foliate decorated socle which leads up to the Ormolu mount with swaging Crystal garlands. The circular Ormolu mount is decorated with foliate patterns before introducing the vertical bands which connect to the frame above. This very attractive frame displays three sections that display three scrolling foliate arms with prism cut pendant Crystals hanging from each bobeche. Between each section of three arms are pierced scrolling foliate designs, Crystal floral reserves, and curved patterns. Leading up to the top crown are sets of Ormolu chains containing oval Crystals that are accompanied by swaging Crystal garlands. The elegant top crown displays a circular reeded patterned bottom frame with a pierced band below that supports the scrolling foliate bands above. The scrolling foliate bands are adjoined by additional Crystal garlands that lead upward to the foliate decorated socle above which presents the acanthus leaf top canopy.
