About the Item

An elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and frosted glass lantern. The lantern is centered by a fine and richly chased bottom floral finial amidst large beautiful acanthus leaves. The original fluted frosted glass is encased by scrolled ormolu handles with foliate designs and swaging berried laurel wreath handles. At the central fluted rim are three charming and most decorative berry and foliate reserves with finely etched details. Above is the striking foliate canopy with elegant acanthus leaves.
