About the Item

Gino Sarfatti was an Italian designer and businessman born in 1912 in Venice. After studying aeronaval engineering in Genoa, he founded the Arteluce company in 1939 in Milan. Its purpose is lighting fixtures, lighting applications, furniture components as well as the study and manufacture of furniture. He won many international awards, including, in 1954 and 1955, the Compasso d'oro, with models 559 and 1055. In December 1973, the year he won the Gold Medal at the 15th Triennale, he sold the company, which is no longer in operation today. Here we have a Floor Lamp with integrated table, lacquered wood structure, brass details and fabric lampshade. Designed by Gino Sarfatti and produced by Arteluce in about 1940. In very good condition, fully original and ready to be shipped. Published in: Stile no. 11, November 1941; M. Romanelli, S. Severi, Gino Sarfatti opere scelte 1938-1973, p. 134, Silvana Editore, 2012. We can rewire the light system to US standards upon request.
