Italian Neo Classical Style Travertine Marble 1960s Torchiere Lamp
About the Item
Neoclassical style and grandeur make this lamp a standout among torchieres. The lions offer realism in the artistic detail of the teeth and head. The lamp design is sturdy and it is quite heavy with its four metal columns and plaster and stone/marble elements. The carved lions atop the columns provide an architectural--artistic element. The dimensions alone bring drama to a setting withe height of the torchiere at 70 inches that rests on a 20 inch wide by 20 inch deep base. This lamp is sometimes attributed to John Dickinson. It works perfectly, and has a dimmer switch attached to the cord. The metal finish shows signs of wear at the very top and near the base of the columns. It is more than 60 years old, but the irregularity to the finish could be corrected with a bit of conservancy or it can be appreciated with this vintage feature. Ready for installation.
