About the Item
Very cool MCM arc/orb floor standing lamp.
The base consist of a very heavy half sphere in cast iron and spun and polished half sphere aluminum cover. Leg slides in to the cylindrical opening and can rotates. The weight of the base makes it very stable. Over all height (floor to the top of the shade) is 70". Projection is 78". Shade diameter is 14" and the base is 12". It's a fairly large piece designed to supply soft spotlight over a sofa or a table.
The leg consists of 2 pieces. One slides in to another and secured with the cheese-head screws. Because all hardware is standard thread, I am guessing, the lamp was produced in United State. Hardware and wiring are consistent with 1960s. All looks to be original.
Shade is made of spun aluminum and enameled in off-white lacquer finish. It is slightly creamy which may just be from the age. There are some scuff marks. Not terrible but it's there. It could be refinished at additional cost.
The shade itself rotates around the leg and helps directing the flow of light.
Interestingly, lower slanted part of the shade also rotates around vertical axis creating flexibility for spotlighting parts of interior. There's a small spring-loaded clip inside the shade, that secures lower part.
Very interesting and unusual piece.
It could be taken apart for shipping. Likely would be shipped in 3 crates.
