About the Item
This striking and rare set of two French miner’s safety lamps dates to the early 20th century and offers a rare glimpse into the intersection of industrial design and luxury craftsmanship. While originally designed for use in coal mines, these lamps are now coveted as sculptural decorative objects — especially in sets such as this, where both pieces retain original character and unique identifiers.
Each lamp is composed of black lacquered metal and aged brass, with cylindrical crystal chimneys signed “Baccarat France”, further affirming the quality. One of the lamps is marked with a brass Arras plaque, identifying the esteemed French maker known for high-grade industrial lighting. The other lamp bears a brass serial plate reading F6B 1580, along with a second marking on the top: F7 1583 — suggesting it may have belonged to a specific mining facility or worker.
Together, they create a visually cohesive and historically rich set, with beautiful patina, intact mechanisms, and the added value of authentic Baccarat crystal.
