Italian Post Modern Sconce design by Perry A. King & S. Mirand for Arteluce

About the Item

Sconce Post Moderna of great charm, made in Italy by the historic lighting company Arteluce founded in 1939 by Gino Sarfatti. Designed and produced in the 80s by the duo of architects and designers Santiago Miranda together with Perry A. King, this wall lamp features many of the typical elements of the period and the Memphis style: monumental, almost totemic shape and intense and full colors that have the function of coloring the light emitted by itself. The warm and direct light emitted by a good-powered halogen bulb is directed upwards by two oblique glass planes. Each plane is in turn composed of 2 overlapping quadrangular glass plates. The plates closest to the light source are double-face, satin on one side and white on the other to reflect the light; while the external plates are decorated by silkscreen printing on glass, with a texture that reproduces the effect of graphite or charcoal in electric blue on a dark gray background. This last colored glass plate creates a splendid light effect visible in the photo. This wall light is in really good vintage condition. Equipped with the original box and packaging, it has minimal signs of oxidation on the metal part of the lamp holder but otherwise it seems to have been assembled and turned on for the first time by us to photograph it. Working and with the glass intact, it shows minimal signs of aging only the cardboard box that contains it. We have the "Triana" floor lamp from this same series but in a different color, you can find it on sale here on the site among our items. Reach out with any questions.
