About the Item
A wonderful true pair of Italian early 19th century Venetian st. giltwood and etched mirror sconces. Each beautiful single arm sconce displays a charming richly carved scrolled foliate arm at the base with striking wonderfully executed scrolled mottled movements extending throughout the frame. At each side are impressive and most decorative pierced scrolled elements in a rich satin and burnished finish adorned with charming blooming flowers also repeated at the impressive pieced top crown. Each sconce retains its stunning original etched mirror backplate with wonderfully detailed designs with one depicting Aquarius and the other depicting Taurus. All original gilt throughout.
