About the Item

A pair of Uchiwa III bamboo wall scones designed by ingomaurer, handcrafted in Japan Distributed by M Design, Germany Ingo Maurer himself coined that the Uchiwa series had been a turning point in his career towards the creation of „light atmospheres“ rather than designing „mere“ illuminated objects. Relying on traditional Japanese craftsmanship Ingo Maurer designed this amazing lightning series, this is the wall lights with 58cm in width and 75 cm in height. They‘re mounted to the wall by simply hanging them to a hook. The lamps have a standard E27 fitting for regular E27 bulbs. Please not that bulbs should not be more than 25 Watts, to reduce heat and prevent heat damage ! The Uchiwa series is an appropriation of and a homage to Japanese culture and craftsmanship. It is outstanding in it’s time and a predecessor for a new understanding about interior lighting. Both lamps are in overall good to very good vintage condition with signs of age and use. One lamp has a small dent, otherwise no cracks or holes in the illuminated areas. The black tape that holds the metal base might need to be renewed but, otherwise good to very good vintage condition.
