PRESS SAMPLE RE-CONDITIONED : Handmade Shell organic modern sculptural wall sconce/ wall light in silky smooth white plaster, by artist Hannah Woodhouse in her London studio.
Used once in a photo shoot, then the wall sconce is taken back to our production unit and is re-sprayed/ fully re-conditioned and re-wired by our production team, so it is literally AS NEW. We offer at a discounted price because it has been installed once on the wall; after photographing it is taken the back into our production unit, where we sand out any blemishes that may have arisen in handling, re-spray, re-condition and re-wire - ready for shipping as good as new. Are all good opportunity to buy our wall scone at a discounted price, we have around 50 of these available every year.
Contemporary design inspired by nature and mid-century European sculpture. This wall sconce not only provides soft ambient lighting but is a beautiful wall sculpture. Uplighter with one candle bulb. IP20 (interior use) (can be converted to IP44 use). Height 15" ( 38 cm). In this listing you are purchasing a single wall sconce, opening to the right.
*IMPORTANT: the FOOTPRINT of Shell is H. 4.3” (110 mm) x W. 3.5” (90 mm). Please ensure that the footprint of our wall light is large enough to cover your j-box before placing an order.*
All our plaster wall sconces can be custom colored to a color of your choice if you supply a paint color reference (for an additional charge quoted on an individual order basis). If you do not request our color service, the lights are shipped in our trademark calm white color.
This wall sconce is wired for the US market, using UL listed components, but the light fitting is not UL listed - this can be done in the US if necessary, by the buyer. If required, we are happy to supply the name of someone in New York who can do this for USA clients.

I met Hannah many years ago and had been waiting for the right project and opportunity to work with her. I wish I had found that opportunity sooner because she is fabulous and inspirational to work with and will enhance any project with passion, integrity and creativity.
Hannah immersed herself in the Inukshuk sailing yacht project wanting to understand the design brief and direction of the project fully before putting forward creative ideas and working together with me to exceed the client’s expectations in every way. She far exceeded my own expectations in the degree of authenticity she brought to the project.
For the finishes and patinas, Hannah worked with and enhanced the color scheme I had already established for the interior. She designed and made custom wall and table lamps with incredible attention to detail. Each table lamp had a small stand-alone switch housing cast in the same material so as not to ruin the purity of the lamp base itself. She provided robustly designed lamp shades using minimal and elegant materials to avoid “wobbly shade syndrome”. She made everything with hidden solidity appropriate to withstand the slamming of a light-weight carbon fibre performance sailing yacht in a heavy sea. Her finishes and the protective coatings were applied with the marine environment in mind.
I also wanted bedheads which resembled stone with lichen growing on them as a feature for the cabins. After trying a number of expert paint effects artists, I asked Hannah whether she could help me. She applied finishes to light-weight bedhead panels that not only looked like stone with lichen growing on them, by making her own natural pigments from berries which were sourced from the owner’s favourite region of North America, she provided a physical connection in her art. Hannah really went the extra mile.
Hannah’s attention to detail, communication and timely delivery made her a most valuable addition to the design and build team.
I have no hesitation in recommending Hannah and I look forward to working with her again and again.

Hannah Woodhouse
An influential figure in lighting design, Woodhouse has exhibited for many years at Sotheby’s London galleries and her lights adorn some of the world’s most sumptuous interiors. Inspired by mid 20th Century European sculpture, Woodhouse creates her range of hand made contemporary wall lights, wall sconces and made-to-order table and floor lights in bronze, plaster, faux bronze and jesmonite (bio resin). Each wall sconce is hand made by husband and wife duo Hannah Woodhouse and William Denniston in their London studio. They can create custom pieces for yachts, hotels and commercial projects. They also offer plaster casting workshops in the London studio - you can cast maquettes (small sculptural models) of their iconic wall sconces. The sculptural plaster wall sconces are shipped in a matt, ultra smooth soft white plaster. However the plaster wall lights can be customised to a colour of your choice - for this there is a small additional charge and you will need to supply a paint colour reference. The cost of bespoke colouring the plaster wall sconces varies, depending on the number of lights ordered, and is quoted on an individual order basis. Woodhouse’s passion for sculpture can be traced back to the year she spent working in Paris, living in the household of Henri Cartier-Bresson and his wife Martine Franck. Her expressive range of lights and candlesticks draw on the aesthetic influences of mid 20th century European sculpture, hence the name "art wall lights".
