Gino Sarfatti table lamp for Arteluce from the middle of the last century.

About the Item

Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce 'mappamondo' 1966 circa... Height 60 cm. Width 40 cm. The lamp features a modern, sculptural design, its main feature being a spherical light diffuser in a matte white color that gives off a warm, diffused light. This globe is traversed by a curved tubular element, dark brown in color with a smooth matte finish, which serves as both a structural and decorative element, creating a sort of ring that wraps around the sphere. The base of the lamp consists of a tubular cable, coiled on itself to form a flattened spiral. This cable is not only the physical support for the lamp, but also a distinctive design element because of its vibrant color and unusual shape. A thin, clear electrical cable emerges from the center of the orange spiral, leading to a cylindrical black switch located on the cable. The lamp is resting on a dark reflective surface, probably a table top or piece of furniture, which partially reflects the light emitted by the sphere and the shape of the dark orange cord, adding depth to the image. The background is neutral, with a light wall behind the top of the lamp and a darker area to the right, highlighting the lamp as a focal point. Ambient light is soft, focusing mainly on the lamp's own illumination. he opal glass diffuser gives off a warm and soft light, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, ideal for living areas, bedrooms or studies. Gino Sarfatti (1912-1985) was an important Italian lighting designer. He is known for his innovative and sophisticated creations, often characterized by functional elegance and the use of modern materials. He founded the lighting company Arteluce, which has produced many of his most iconic designs. In summary, the "Mappamondo" lamp is not only a functional light source, but a true decorative object capable of adding personality, style and a touch of design history to the environments in which it is placed.
